Driving Experience: Real-World Impressions
The eMas 5 drives with more composure than its price suggests. Steering feel is well-weighted for city driving — not artificially heavy like some EVs calibrated for European tastes — and the ride quality on Malaysian roads, including the infamous potholes along Jalan Ipoh, is genuinely impressive.
The cabin is quiet. At 90 km/h on the Plus highway, wind and road noise are kept well in check, making long drives genuinely relaxing. The 25.6-inch dual-screen cockpit (a curved display spanning instrument cluster and infotainment) looks dramatic and responds quickly, though some menus are buried deeper than they should be.
Regenerative braking is adjustable through paddles behind the steering wheel. On the strongest setting, one-pedal driving is very usable in KL stop-go traffic — a feature that long-time EV owners will appreciate immediately. Newcomers to EVs will love how quickly it becomes second nature.
